I have considered the discharge of his duties, and I therefore venture to refer your Lordship to my Predecessor's despatch No. of the 18th June, 1847: wherein are detailed the circumstances under which Mr. Campbell was appointed to this Colony. Six years have elapsed since then, and the opinion entertained by Sir John Davis of his attainments and qualifications for office in the Judicial line in the Colonies.
