considering the effect of the

4th Rule of Court, it appears that

while on the

one hand it

is that throughout the

year a judge of the island should be daily

available for the

detention of debtors about to abscond, for the

exercise of the Chancery jurisdiction

of the Court, and for

similar and pressing functions

it on the other hand takes from

the Chief Justice (there

being no other

puisne judge

in the

Colony) not only

long vacation, or short Colonial

leave of absence by the Governor, but

also the six weeks in each

year, accorded for recreation and health by the Colonial Regulations to all other Civil servants, unless an acting Chief Justice should be appointed by

the Governor to officiate during
