At 3 nm. on September 1st, he left Singa- pore for the usual relief trip to Hors- burgh Light, On the return voyage ho was on the bridge till o'clock when he handed over charge to the chief officer. At 8.40 witness went to his bunk and felt aleeg partly undressed.

Continuing, witness said that when he went on the bridge there was no slip two cables from his vessel. The Zweena was six cables off when he took charge. The Seamew was then going ton knots and he told the helmsman, Steady as you go,' The vessel was heading straight for the Waterwitch, witness atending to take up an anchorage outside her and half a cable's length from her. Mr. Elliot You don't suggest that that ship, being put on slow from 10 kaots, would only cover two cables lengths in two minute Yes, I do. At full speed she will travel in one minute 1.8 cables.
