Jan 7 6 7 Chinese Criminals. Reports the case of Three Chinese Criminals Condemned for Murder, two of them have been executed and the other commuted to transportation for life.

Jan 7 7 8 Extension of the Police. Reports having increased the Police Force and extended them to the Country, the additional expense will be £2620 per annum and he has levied a rate to cover it.

Jan 7 22 9 Crown Lands. Refers to his Despatch 873 July 3. Explains the conditions on which the Government is about to relinquish Lands hitherto in possession of Messrs. Carter, Hng reason, Barton and Scott also Messrs. Bush and Matheson.

Jan 24 10 Treasurer's Accounts. Encloses the Treasurer's Accounts for the quarter ending Dec 31. Also a return of balances in the Colonial Treasury.

Jan 24 11 Finance Returns. Encloses the Finance returns of Colony for the year 1847. Encloses minutes of the Executive and Legislative Councils for the half year ending Dec 31.

Jan 25 13 Police Establishment. Reports on the Police Establishment recommending Gratuities for certain Sergeants and Constables who are unfit for service and desirous of retiring to India to live on their Military Pensions, he has sanctioned the gratuities, amounting to $83.15.0.

He has also allowed a Prize Pirate Boat to be employed for Police purposes and some changes in the number of Constables and Indians substituted for Europeans have been sanctioned.
