AT THE HORSE SHOW.
Some lovely toilottes have been scon already at the Horse Show, though the dates have clashed with that of the great millinery parade of the year at Ascot. Many are in lace, and a novelty of the present season is the mingling of white, or cream-coloured, lace with black. Some times there is a short black laco jacket combined with a white lace gown, and artistic arrangement allows the white lace to be seen at the sides, thus diminishing the too sharp contrast of colour. The introduction of cerise with lace in fre- quent, the rage for cherry-colour being still very great. A very lovely toilette seen at the Horse Show was in lace em- bossed with a design of dots in black, and arranged with a border of soft blue. Like many other afternoon gowns of the season, this was rollarless, and opened in a V partly filled in by a little vest not more than three inches wide in palest blue chiffon cubroideres in black.
L
A LOVELY TOILETTE.
Laen coats, worn over charmeuse gowns, and, of course, unlined, have been seen in the boxes at the Horse Show, and one in particular was very successful, the Ince being a union of thick and fine over cream-coloured nison with a deep border of blue charmeuse. The tone of blue was repeated in the tegal straw hat, very wide of brim, and with a high crown draped with cream-coloured talle eaught down and the very edge of the brin with small pink roses.
SOME FOLLAND FROCKS.
Foulard has never been seen in such variety of design as now, It lends itself to the pleated gowns better than almost any other material. One of these is in a curious pattern rauning in stripes and including three colours, brown, piùk, and cream. It has
a pleated skirt, the pleats stitched down very closely round the hips, and then merely present, but so effectually that they only give when the wearer

fashionable dark blue, a shade difficult to deserie. It is deeper in tone than roya! blue and might perhaps be correctly called ** sapphire. The collar in this matial is a deep sailer shape, the revers being a mass of brightly-inted em- brodery in red, blue, green (a sort of tuad-green) with black introduced in very sall quantities here and there. These
coloured embroideries give vory vivid officts to plain navy blue serge cloth or satin. lu one instance there is a scarlet linen collar, and the cross-over front of the coat is edged with alternately blue and scarlet bone buttons, with touches of green and orange. This sounds very loud and emphatic, but the effect is not so startling as might be imagined.
LACE IN FICHUS, ETC.
The present fashion of the fich is well displayed in the shadow-lace which is so fairy-liko of mesh and so delicate in design. One of these fichus is worn over a creatu-coloured chiffon gown which in its turn veils a bright lemon-coloured and silk.
The behu, forming a deep collar and caught down at either side of the waist with a silk band, shaped and pleat ed, is long enough to reach almost to the knees. The sleeves of this gown only just

Here, again, there is a deep hem of the ninon, and it is headed by a very tiny piping of pink soft silk. The bodice of this gown is a little chef d'euvre, an indescribably deft arrangement of pink silk, black ninou, cream-coloured lace across the chest, black winon just above, and, hold- ing down the cross-over side of the bodice, a large rose, the petals formed of folded ribbon, the colours pale pink, pale mauve,
