and "Ho Akwai", guilty of the crime of piracy aggravated by the infliction of wounds, and "Mucy-teei" the originator of the plot in which they were all concerned, be executed pursuant to the sentence of the Court, and they were accordingly hung on the 4th instant.

One other of the convicts, "Wong-Mlook", was not recommended by the Judge to mercy, but his criminality appearing under all the circumstances rather less grave than that of the four above-named, and the seven remaining Criminals having the Judge's recommendation, it was resolved that the lives of all the eight should be spared, and the sentence of death recorded against them was accordingly commuted by Transportation for life.
