My Lord,

Hongkong, 4th February, 1848.

In my Despatch, No 196 of November 18th I had the honour to report that Keying had sequestrated the property of a family, one of whose members had robbed a British inhabitant of a considerable amount.

"Considerable delay and difficulty occurred in realizing the sum to be made good to Mr Wilson, the person robbed, and I at length wrote to Keying requesting him to fix at once the time when and the place where it should be repaid. On the 27th Ultimo I received the subjoined; saying that the sum in question, Dollars 1,630, had been paid over to Mr Wilson.

The Right Honourable,

The Earl of Grey's information

I support wholly by the report herewith.

08.22/4/48:

Am pleased.
