With reference to your letter of the 21st Instant, I am directed by His Excellency The Governor in Council to inform you, other parties having intimated some intention of creating patent slips in the colony, your request to have the exclusive privilege of one for a term of five years, cannot now in the opinion of the Council be complied with.
When it is considered however that your ground is almost the only one eligible for the purpose of a slip, and that the parties professing an intention of sending for slips from home, are not possessed of equally eligible sites, it would appear that you have the power of bringing your slip into...
