The Attorney-General (Hon. Mr. C. G Alabaster), who was instructed by Mr P. M. Hodgson (Assistant Crown Solicitor), informed the Court and jury that the evidence hs. would call was not only that of identifi cation, which was extremely weak, but it E identification coupled with property traced to the prisoners which had been identified. He asked the jury to consider the facts together, and it would then be for then: to decide whether or no be bad succeeded in making out a cake. The robbery started at midnight on August 1st. A married woman living at Sam Wan village on Chalakok leland would inform the jury that on the night in gation she was awakened by the barking of her dog. Thinking it was her son returning home, the told the dog to lie down. Then number of robbers entered her house, seized her by the hair, and dragged her down. The intruders carried kaives and torches, and the usual paraphernalia of bulara. When freed the woman ran out and b under a bush and the robbers appropriated articles to the value of 8:50. Two houses were robbed that night. The woman in question could not recognise any of the men, but another woman who was said there were

was a man who recognised the second prisoner, and said there were saven robbers. On August 2nd some of the stolen clothing was but the people who pawned it were not identified by the pawnbroker. Two or three days later the two prisonere and a number of
