CONCRETE BUNDING IN QUICKSAND.

A novel method of building up cement piles or supports ip quicksand is the subject of a Gorman patent. A pipe of suitable sizo has at its lower and an auger počāt and a holical sører blado, sevoral holes being driven through the wall of the pipe just above the blade to permit the discharge of cement groat outward. By water pumped through the pipo, the appifatus is twisted into the sand, jets being used to aid the sinking if necessary. When the required depth has been reached, the gront is pumped into the pipe and the drill is turned backward to withdraw it. Flowing out along the fave of the blade the semont becomes mingled with the sand directly above, and the turning screw passes the mixture to the paps below. A eylindrical pila is thus built up in the semi- liquid band. Others may be produced in the same way alongside the first, and these may be readily consolidated into very strong and sub- stantial piers,

REGULARITY OF THE BOWELS

The First Line of Defence against III-Health.

Only about one man or woman in a hundred is perfectly healthy. The other 99 have some digestive trouble; and perhaps more than 50 per cent of these could trace their trouble to that prevalent evil-constipation. Its a simple thing of itself, but like many simple things, it may grow and become complicated. Constipation is the root of nine-tenths of the sickness of man, and a large proportion of the sickness of women. Nature often requires a little assistance, and if this assistance is given a the first indication much distress and suffering may be averted. To maintain a healthy system the bowels should operate at least once every 24 hours. This is one of Nature's wise provisions which is too often ignored, and the result is untold suffering. Women and children are the greatest offenders but why such should be the case is a problem to be solved. Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills are a remedy which, taken at the first indication, assist Nature to restore the systern to health and -strength, and aver; the development of disease. Every ailment is the effort of Nature to get rid of some impurity in the system, and the object of medical treatment is to assist Nature in doing Dr. Morse's Indian Root Pills do this surely and thoroughly. To overcome constipation take one to four Pills regularly until the Bowels move daily, and are restored to healthy action-

NEW BRO'S HERPICIDE

THE ORIGINAL REMEDY THAT KILLS THE DANDRUFF GERM.

Travelling as I dd continuously, I have been troubled a great deal with dandruff

and falling hair, and until I tried ferpicide I never found a remedy that was satisfactory. Herpicido is a delightful preparation that fulls the claims made for it, and no lady's toilet is complete without it. I highly recommend it to my friends."

Signed) ANNE OAKLEY.

It is certainly significant that Miss OAKLEY the celebrated vile shot and theatrical star, who has, travelled so extensively abroad, should choose Newbro's Herpicide as the MOST EFFICACIOUS toilet remedy for the scalp. No one will doubt for opportunity to choose the best, and those who have seen the natty and wiusome Miss OAKLEY will not doubt hor power of discrimination in matters of this sort,

Nowbro's Harricide is a scientific germicide and prophylactic for the hair and scalp; it destroys the germ or microbe that causes dandruff, itching scalp and falling hair, after which the hair will grow as nutum intended, except in cases of incurable baldness. * Extraordinary results sometimes follow the continued-use of Newbro's Horpicide.

If your hair is dull, brittle or lastreless, don't wait until it begins to fall, bat save and beautify it with Nowbro's Herpicida. In addition to its wonderful medicinal qualities, Nowbro's Horpicide is the dalotiest and most delightfully refreshing hair dressing available. The first application proves its goodness. TRY IT
