Lloyd's, July 241b. LLOYD'S UNDERWRITIES" ASSOCIATION.

F. and S. Clauer 15 Days' Notice.

The operations of the company for the year have resulted fu a substantial profit, and while the gross income la considerably larger than last year, the net balance on profit and loss account is rather emailer, owing to the increased cost of in- bour which we experienced, in common with prao tically all oti er rabber estates, and also owing to our having charged to fit and loss account the pre considerable expenditure on coconut cultivation. Bearing this in mind. and also that the

price of rubber

has fallen very largely during the period, IMPORTANT NOTICE OF EXCLUSION. the result must be considered satisfactory.

With regard to the estato refrally, you will seo from the directors report that of our tolal ares of 12,961 acres there are 3,312 acres onder rubber, upon which are planted approximately 484,00 trees, on increase of 332 neies and 47,000 treos. Our programme for

the year wis 10 have planted up 500 zerer. This was found to be impossible within the period to March 31 owing to the drought in the early part of

of the year. The full 500 meres were, however, planted up in the first month of the present final year. The manager's estimate for the production of rubber during the year was 150,000 lbs. We are some 6,000 lbs short of this figure, which, I think, due to the drought, and also to an out. break of small pox. 1ho whole of this pre- doction of rubber was obtained from under 56,000 teren, a considerable number of which WOLO only brought into tapping during the last for months of the year. As regards the number of additional trees which will come into tapping during the present year we think we may mely estimate that 15,000 additional trees will be in tapping from now coward to Degember, and a furizer 15,000 during the first three months of next year.

The question of bringing the young trees lato topping is, of course, a matter that we must leave very largely to the discretion of the manager on the spot, and the matter of unbreaking out during the comparatively short a time tht the vessel was at Rs, The, rast ample supply of tappers to deal with the new

With

regard to tapioca cultivation, in the prat our accounts have shown a comparatively small profit from tapices. On the other band, some of the advances to squatters must be regarded, at least for the time being, as irreros for fear that some time it would break coverable.
