A Clergyman

Nervous Collapse, Brain Fag,

Neuralgia-

For getting things done, making things go, the invigorating stimulus of Phoslerine cannot be equalled, says the Rev. A. H Field. Fully aware that as a clergyman he is bound to make sure of the accuracy of bis estimation of Phpslerine, this gentleman states that, distinct from other cases, he has verified and tested the efficacy of the tonic himself. It was Phosferine, and Phosferine aloue, he says, which raised him from the nervous collapse, remedied the brain-fag and neuralgia which held down his efforts and arrested his plans over a lengthy period. Since taking Phosferitia he is entirely free from Dervous distresses, and can put his whole heart and energies into his work, and indeed, such is his activity that he has roused many helpers to bis cause. Experience has taught the Rev. A. H. Field that numbers of people do not realise their languor and half-hearted efforts are due to lach of nerve force, and he believes they will quicker appreciate the efficacy of Phosferine by learning of his own recovery..

Have No Existence Now.

Rev. A. H. Field, 335, Brettenham Road, Walthamstow, writes: "It gives me much pleasure to testify to the beneficial effects of Phosforine in many cases of nervous disorder, where I have advised the use of your tonic. Some four years ago I myself had a nervous breakdown, and a friend advised Phosforine. I took his advice, and') speedily found that I had acted wisely, for the neuralgic pains and the mental weainess soon took flight, and I was, thoroughly braced up. Recently some members of my church, at my suggestion, tried the. remedy, and were quite satisfied with the beneficial results. I have advised its use no-for nearly four years, and in no case has it yet- proved a failure. When one thinks of the great number of so-called nerve remedies, it is satisfactory to find at least one upon which reliance can be placed. I wish your Phosferine every success. When preaching away, I have noticed Phosferine finds a place in the village homes."

THE POWER PROBLEM.

T. Os - mend, of the Pennsylvania State College The great problem now is, how to utilise the san's clestro-magustin mergy directly as electric energy for mechanical power, and he believes {that a tenth of one of the Carnegie rusaroh

millions would bring tho solution.

PLAPPING WINGS FLIGHT.

The Aging machine with flapping wings sug- gested by Daneen Bell, of Edinburgh, would have a total weight of 400 pounds and carry 6 hores-power oñgine›of 700 revolutions, with wings moving 7ft up and 7 ft down;

PICTURES BY EXPLOSION.

The curious theory that photographs to the result of a multitude of microscopio explosions has been suggested by F. F. Renwick, a British photographer. The ordinary dry-plate is a sheet of glass or celluloid coated on one side with a film of gelatine containing bromide of silver, and after this is exposed in a camera its. appearance to the eys is unaltored until it is tusted with a developing solution. Both the invisible action of light and the visible reaction of the developer have been supposed to be chical changes. Dr. W. Soloffer has noticed, however, that lightcases a grain of bromide of silver ta swell and fly to pieces, and Mr. Ronwick infers that this explosive rupture, which dracks the gelatine about the exposed grain, gives ready entrance to the developer, so that the exposed grains are nated upon much more quickly than the unexposed grains, which have to be resched through the tangled network of gelatine. This new explmation of the photographis proms is e aimed to be in some respecte more satisfactory than any previous one. It accords with the phenomena of “fogging," and indicates that tho grains of ripened" emulsion must be in their most explosive state, or at the limit of stable squilibrium,

ANROPLANE WIRELESS.

In his use of the guy wires of a biplaze as antennas for wireless telegraphy, E M. Horton has found that the aeroplane motor serves woli for the ground. The appamatne dovelos ed after many experiments adds but 65 pounds to the weight to be lifted, and includes a 6 inch spark ail, with a 12 volt storago battery of 50 ampore- boars, webing 40 pounds. The guy wiros, connected in series, have a total longth of about 800 foot. This oquipment has been used

on the ground floor of a New York building

ELECTRIC LIGUT WITH UT WIRES. Wireless lighting us a possibility is no sur prite, so it was merely the expected that hap poned when Mr. Valdemar Poulsen, the Danish inventor, pressed the contacts of his serial trasmitter and thus lighted two ireandeseant lumps held by his assistant in another room. The miracle will come when the radiated anergy can be so directed to a distance that the loss will not be enormously greator than that by wire transmission.

MOSAIC METAL

Decorative effects, of novel kind have been produced by introducing substances of higher melting point into alloys heated to plastic condition. In the experiments made, for instance, 93 parts of tin and 10 of copper were moked at. 500 degs. Cent, and then cooled down to 200 degs. The mass. was plantio at the latter temperature, to that fragments of pale bluo smalt glass were readily forced juta ib The whole was then moulded, cooled and polished, and the product shoved a brilliant combination of blue particles evenly distributed in " white metalllo matrix, When in Singa

worked into su alloy of 98 parts of lead end 2 of antimony at a temperature of about 250, the result was a kind of hard lead. A saggested application of practical kind is the adling of iron to besring metuls, such as antimony, as in this way the bearing metal may be ot only cheavened incest, but may be male as hard aa the shaft supported. thus greatly inoressing durability.
