I have the honor to
report,
that, in
consequence of the numerous robberies by violence,
committed on the roads and at the
villages round the Island that it is very necessary that
an extended Police be established and as the
existing Force (with the exceptions specified) is only sufficient for
the district of Victoria, that
all
increase is required. I accordingly respectfully submit a detail of the Force considered requisite to give the necessary protection and the places at which they should be stationed, likewise the particulars of cost of such increased establishment and (being one of the Accessorys of Police Rate) the means of defraying the expense
