and-especially some discrepancy in the evidence as to his participation in the murder. Considering, moreover, that two examples of Capital punishment were sufficient for one crime of which these men were convicted, I had no hesitation in undertaking the responsibility of sparing the life of the third (the above named "Hu Achow") and commuting the penalty to transportation for life.
With regard to the two other criminals "Leu-aman" and "Leu-neam", I confirmed the sentence of the Supreme Court with the advice of the Council and the acting Chief Justice, and they underwent the extreme penalty of the Law on the 3rd Instant at the usual place of execution.
