apparent that the duties of the Office, were then proportionally present, (for the duties of the Clerk of Council could not have equalled those of the Auditor General) while the more onerous than at present receive is £250
I Salary equivalent only to that 3rd Clerk in the Treasury.
The New Instructions coming into operation will necessarily require an increased degree of vigilance on my part, and greatly add to my duties. I have therefore considered this to be a proper occasion to request you to bring my entreaty before His Excellency The Governor, for any increase of Salary His Excellency may be pleased to deem adequate to my duties.
And however small in amount such addition will be gratefully appreciated. I would beg permission on this occasion to observe that I have been greatly indebted to Mr. R. Reniecker of the Treasury, for his advice and assistance, especially valuable while first requiring a knowledge of the duties of my appointment, and from this circumstance, and the care with which the accounts are prepared by him, my duties have been rendered lighter than they otherwise would have been; but in examining the duplicate Books to be kept by him under the New regulations, it would be exacting too much to expect further assistance from whom I already feel greatly indebted.
I have to (Signed) F. Morgan, Clerk to the Auditor General.
The care and attention evinced by F. Morgan in the performance of his duties, induce me to respectfully recommend his prayer to the favourable consideration.
