The complainant was in the kitchen of his own house when the prisoner entered and offered to fight him. The latter seized a skepper, attacked the complaiuent with it, and chopped him. Prisoner admitted hitting the com. plainant, but said he did not hit him with a chopper, because he was disarmed.

After bearing the evidence the jury returned sverdict of guilty.

Sentence of six months' imprisonment was passed.

The cane was mentioned in which Thomas O'Kano is suing the Anglo-Chinese Education Trust Co. for arrests of salary nud damages in lieu of notice.

Mr. J. H. Gardiner appeared for the plain tiff and Mr. Kong Sing reprosented the defendant

Mr. Gardiner asked that a day be fixed for the hearing. It was a very old caso, and bad recently been before the Full Court.

The hearing was Oxed for Monday, June 12th. The jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and the prisonor was discharged.

CHARGE OF DEBAKING AND ESTERING. Leung Tak, Ip Sing, Loung Lui and Luia Chai were charged with breaking and entering a godown and stealing two-bales of tobacco.

The Attorney-General stated that on the morning of May 7th the police got certain information and went to Cironlar Pathway, from where they could ees the godown. On arrival they saw the four prisoners carrying bajes from the godown and arrested them. They also discovered that the padlocks of the godown had been force. The owner of the truck which wa need to carry the tobacco away said the truck taken without his knowledge. The pris oners admitted carrying the tobacco away, but said they were perfectly innocent agents who were engaged by a man in white clothing. The Attorney-General hoped to satisfy the jury beyond all doubt that the prisoners were guilty, and that they went to the godown with the deliberate intention of stealing this tobacco.

The jury, after boaring the evidence, found the prisoners guilty, and Lis Lordship sentenced each of them to seven years' imprisonment with hard labour.
