Concerning the claims on the part of any of the persons now in that Colony to the situation of Treasurer. My impression is that there is no person in the Colony who is entitled to expect that it should be conferred upon him except it be St. Hillier who has been acting as Chief Magistrate since Mr. Camie's successor, Mr. Bruce, in the office of Secretary. I have certainly seen no despatches from the Governor bringing the claims, or merits of any one person in particular under the consideration of Lord Grey.
