KRUPP GUNS FOR USE AGAINST AIRSHIPs. London, September 24th.
The Krupp works have constructed special gans for tee against nirehips. These for use on land reach an altitude of 20,000 feet. There is also a large gun for use at sea, with an altitude range of 35.000 feat. It can be elevated to en angle of 75 degrees. The shells leave a trail of smoke in the day-time and a column of light at night to show the course.

Heuter cables from Pretoria that Lord Me- thuen has completed a tour of the Orange River Colony with the object of converting the farmers to the idea of unified Bonth African defence force. He addressed numerous meetings, and conversed with individuals, recommending an elaboration of the commando system and the establishment of a military college and the main tanance of permanent artillery.
