on examination that-

year (18th May. 1846) stated in a public letter, that if Steamers

any damage to native craft, the Conoul would order the loss to be made good, and words to that effect.
The said merchant and the
master of the junk, which by the Meamer's sunk, having
running against her,

of recovering their loss, beg that they may receive an indemnification. Their deposition
on examination proving
correct. I thought it my deely to.
communicate this subject to the Honorable
Envoy, to order the Consul to settle this
affair, after due consideration.
