Therefore, it is asserted, that as Canada is practically compelled to acquire as soon as possible a defence that may secure herself, the logical conclusion from the arguiocuts of the authorities is that she is no less compelled to make that change in her international political status which will enable her to abstain from any war that she does not desire to engage in unless it be forced on hor by invasion

Kowloon at present was s small place, and the number of boys of enitable nge for a boys' brigade and soonte' company was very limited, but in a few years Kowloon would grow and so it seemed well to set on foot that company, making a molest start. Their nambars that evening were not large, but they would grow year by year. Though their numbers were small they felt that the start had been helped by the presence that evening of His Excellency and Lady May | It was a pleasure to see them there and he was sure they would remember the words to bo addressed to them by His Excellency.
HIS EXCELLENOY then addressed the boys in homely language. He said that he had not learned of the existence of that brigade until two days
before, and as he understood it, it was a mission, a boy's organisation, to teach them useful know ledge, to acquire proficiency in athletics, tö learn discipline and obedience, and to become clean, strong, upright men. He reminded them that boys learned much quicker than mea. If they learned to play cricket or football or to swim as boys they would do all these things better than those who learned when they were grownup, The better members of the Boys' Brigade that they were the batter citizens would they become when they grew up. Although they were quite young they were stil, he hoped, proud of belonging to the British Empire, That Empire was built up by their ancestors, their fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, and great great grandfathers, and when the boys before him grow up to man's estate
