The play, as everyone knows, in a musical comedy, in which the orchestra takes prominent part, and the whole plot and setting are merely a background for the singing. Still there is a plot, and the first sot. opens in a flower shop at the entrance to the Grand Hotel at Biarrits. It is the wedding day of Mrs. Hoppings, a wealthy English widow from Notting Hill, who has lost her susceptible heart to the redoubtable Carajole, the famous Spanish torsador. Everything is in readinees for the ceremony, and the bridesmaids are choosing their bouquets from the shop of the charming Sun, when fate in the guise of tlio poor but fascinating Donna Terves, whom Carajolo has thrown over for the wealthy widow, appears on the scene. In a burst of song, she denounces Carajole, mutual moriminations follow, and Mrs. Hoppings refuses to have anything more to do with the mercenary toreador. Donna Teresa is anxious to return to Spain, but there is a difficulty about passports, and the parstades Sammy Gig, an out-of-work Cockney groom who is down on his luck, to accompany her, the two travelling as Beñor and Schora Carajolo. Sammy, whose sweetheart, Suzan of the flower shop, kas proved obdurate, is nothing loath, and his amusing adventures in Villays, where he is welcomed as the famous toreador, form the second sot. Sammy has the time of his life at Vilinya, until he discovers he is expected to personate Carajalo at the ball fight, when he takes an affecting farowell of Susan, who has followed him repentantly to Spain, and prepares to be gored. But Carsjolo himself opportunely returns to Villays at this moment, and Sammy is enved. Mrs. Hoppings decides to bestow her hand and fortune on her faithful admirar, Mr. Pettifor (a dealer in wild and tame snimals, who has supplied the buils for the famous Bight) and to the great delight of the bridesmaids, there is to be a wedding after all Incidentally thero are the love affairs of M Hopping's niece Nancy Staunton, and her friend Dora. Dora discovers she is being sought for her fortune, and persuades Nancy to pose as her husband in order to test the affections of her flancée. In the complications which oneus.
