ARMED ROBBERS.
A letter from Sheung Shan states that a number of pirates took possession of the island and a village near it. These places they forti fied and proceeded to terrorize the villagers and those travelling on the water. This state of affairs was reported to the Brigadier-General of the district, who sent a detachment of troops against the pirates and forced them to quit their position. Several of their boats were also captured after a hard fight.
