SIR JAMES DUCKWORTH,
A Romantic CABEER.
Mr. Edison is, also experimenting with sine. matograph films in colour, but has not yet has able to overcome the difficulty of photographing red, and it cannot be done instantaneously. He believes that the cinematograph as it will be completing his simultaneous cinematograph and developed will have a great educative effect. He is
making figures and voices actat the same moment, phonograph, and says that he finds no dificulty in but there is difficulty in the perfection of the illusion, If the speaking, apparatus is too close to the moving picture the effect of the voice is artificial. At present he is obliged to remove the photograph some 100ft. behind the cinema- tograph. The dificulty will be overcome, and Mr. Edison believes that in a few years every village in the world will be provided with its own cinematograph-phonograph theatre, and this will be ane means by which, Mr. Edison says, in combination with cheap houses and cheap transport, in the study of which Mr. Edison is also engaged the great towns will be broken up and the population scattered back to the land.
