TANNING HOGSKING American Method-Blog Skins make very nice leather when they are properly tanned They are usually sory greasy and have namarcus holes in them. It is very important that the tannor haudles the skiss car. fally to su not to increase the number of motor; and the siis must be degreased right at the start or they will ouuse trouble all the way through. The skins should be worksil bafore they are soaked and as much of the grease as powkits must be soraped out. After the skins have been scrapod ont dry they should be washed in warm sal soda water and then worked and scraped to get the desolved grease on. The soda solution is zunde by dissolving 3. Ibr, of al soda in a barre of water of about 95 degree. The skins are pul into this auter and left there about one minute, they are then put on the beam and scraped and worked and the dissolved greasa will flow out, After this has been done at least twice the skins should be washed in soda solution to free them
