In accordance with the instructions in Your Lordship's late Despatch Nr 96 of 10th June, I shall of course take care that the expenditure within this official year on. account of Public Works and Contingencies shall be in conformity with the reduced amount of the Parliamentary Vote ; but I kust that my Despatch by the last Mail, Nr 78 of July 19th may induce Your Lordship to sanction a portion, at least, of

the savings on former Votes being appropriated to Public Works which have abready been sanctioned, and which will nearly supply

the

exigencies of the Colony, as may be inferred
