The Socialists have an immense numerical line better chances of success than in sny other preponderance in Berlin, so that a general strike great city in the world. The Socialist leaders are confident of being able to demonstrate their power over the masics by paralysing at one stroke industrial, commercial, and social life in the Kaiser's own

own capital, at a time, when his Majesty is in residence here.

The Socialists boast that when the strike in proclaimed Berlin will be without breed, light, coal, and other necessities of life. Enormons financial losses and vexations personal in conveniences would be caused, and a general strike at the present critical time, when popular feeling runs bigh owing to yesterday's conflicts,

would inevitably entail far more disastrous consequences. Countless hosts of working men deprived of their daily occupations would parade the streets, and serious conflicts with the police would be unavoidable.
