The ammual general meeting of this Society was dinid at Shanghai by June 14th, In the abesace of Sir Pelham Warren, K.C.M.G., Mr. H. D. Morse, statistical secretary. Imperial Maritime Customs, took tho elsir, Sour thirly members were present, this being the largest repual meeting for some years.
Mz. Morse, in a brief adleeps, referred to the work done during the past year by the various officers of the Sectely and to the progress the Society had wide, and, as result of the activity displayed, was making. The amount of work represented was very large indeed.
The honry secretary's report for 1905-6 Pas then read by Dr. J. C. Farguson. It was as follows:
During the year four mesings of the Council have taken place. Much important business zulating to the praction of a new building on the Society's land has been transacted, and the Council is now able to report that the contract for a large new buiding has been signed, subject to the approval of II. B. M.'s Government, The new building will be four-storied and will be an ornament to Shanghai. It will afford increased facilities for the enlargement of the Museum and Library. A small strip of the Society's land has been surrendered is the Shanghai Mulcipal Council for the purposes and the of widening the Museum Road, irregalar strip at the rear of the Society a land, en which torporary servants' quarters and a kitchen were built under agreement with the proper authorities, bas been taken back by H. B. M. Government for use in
