AN OLD SAILOR'S LIFE SAVED.
A retired allor of the British Navy, Mr. Charles Harrison, now empleyad on the London, Chatham and Dorar Railway as a signal fitter, lives at 19, Stowatt's Lane West, Battersea, London, S.W. Up to January, 1505, Mr. Har- visos always enjoyed good benit, but then be suddenly began to feel wrong. It was the beginning of a severo stiuck of indigestion, which lasted for months, and early cost him Lis life. How he was curet by rsing Mother Biogol's Syrup he tells you in this sworn stato. meat, which is supported by the testimony of some of his friends and neighbours.
I, Charles Harrison, of 19, Bewart's Luno West, Buttersen, in the County of London, do solemnly and sincerely declare as follows;

THE NILE-RED SEA RAILWAY,
On January 27th Lord Cromer, who had travelled frem Cairo vid Atbara, doslared the Nilo-Red Sea Railway open from Port Sudan to the Atburn Junction before au assembly which: included the Sirdar and Lady Wingate, the two members of the Egyption Legislative Council who had been invited to the ceremony. Sir
Vincent Corbett, the Financial Adviser, and
many prominent British officials of the Sudar! Government, Major Hawker, Governor of the Red Sea Province, and the principal members
of
the railway staff, the captain and commander of his Majesty's ship Diana, and a caultitude of sheikhs, amilas, and other notables from the whala region, among them many of the loading tribesmen, with Arab merchants from Cairo, Hadondosa and Beni Amore with their wild Sunkin, Jeddab, and the Arabian coust.
Colond Machtlery, R.E., Director of the Sudan Government Railways, gave an recount of the construction of the railway, pointing out that the now route from Khartum to the sou by the Nile-Red Ees Railway was 100 miles shorter than the old Nile route. The length of the live from Sal-Lom Junction to Port Sudan is 24 miles, making a total of 31 miles of main line. There are 25 miles of sidings. The cost of constructing the line WHY E.1,375,000, which works out at £E.4,150 per mile of main line. Work on the main line at Sunhiu began in August, 1901, and railway communication between the Nile and the Red Sea was opened in October, 1906. Owing to the insufbeiency of the local water supply, it had been necessary to obtain all water for working parties, and most of the water for bridges, buildings, and locomotives, by distill ing sea water; all water had to be carried up the line in special tank wagons,
