HONGKONG ST. ANDREW'S SOCIETY.
BCOTCH CONCERT.
It was only to be expected that the Scotch coumanity in Hongkong would not let the 25th of January pass without in some form commemorating the birthday of their national bard, but this year there were very good ressona for not holding the e-lebration on Thursday, and so the concert, arranged by the St. Andrew's Scioty, took place on Saturday night in St. George's Hall. There was a good attendance.- though near the platform were a number of empty seals labelled reserve-II. E. Major General and Mrs Villiers Hutton and the fion. Mr. and Mrs. Gersion Stewart were present. The concert, with one exception. was thoroughly Seatob, "the place of honour. being accorded the lyrics and bullads of Robert Bata, whose memory is being kept gruen by Feats the warl o'er in various ways at this thes, and while the programme gave undoubted. satisfaction one could not fail to note tije omision of a song which is associated with all Burus celebrations. We refer to the one whore the poot Rings of his own birth," There was a led was born in Kyl" However, theco was little to call for criticista in the concert, which afforded genuine pleasare to all who were pro- recalled memories of many sent and Lo

The band of the 2nd West Kent Regiment opened the programme with "Reminiscena of Scoliand."
