2nd Starter,-Mr. W. W. G. Ross. Time-keeper.Mr. J. R. Micha 1. Hon. Spe. & Treasurer.-Mr. C. G. Mackie, Favoured with beautiful, sanny weather, ant too uncomfortably hot, Saturday's Gymkhana meeting was a great-enocess for these present. -The attendance, however, might have been better, considering the excellent programme arranged by the Club. At about four o'clock. His Excellency the Governor, accompanied by bis A.D.C., took up kis position in the Jockey Club Pavilion, and shortly afterwards the first
race startedt.
The band of the West Kents played selections of music during the afternoon.
The crowd of clerks in the Pari-Mul wore kopt busy throughout the races, notwithstanding the fact that they were paying only on the winners. They had not, however, to pay out any large sutus, $23.10 oz Policy in the quarter-mile fut raco, being the highest dividend for the day.
The Hon. Mr. Gresson was ber pilot.
The same rider stored Croome to victory in the two heats of the Polo Pony Scurry, the other starters not having a look in. The Gymkhana Club Challenge Cup woy the great avent of the afternoon, and Co Canny, with his owner, Mr. Johnstone up, shet past the winning post with a length to space. The "Aunt Sally" race-ladies uomination-caused no end of excitement, and the manner in which the crowd rushed to the rails to catch a glimpse of the ludies knocking down their dolle might have given distant yewitness the idea that the grand stand was invaded by mouse. The dolls, by the way, were Japanese and in a surprisingly short space of time the whole nine were doored. If the Russians can direct their guns at the opportune time us well as the ladies directed their sticks on Saturday, the Japanese ships will no longer ralo the seas. Mr. J. Johnstone, nominated by Mra
·L.A.M. Johnstcz, was the winner. In the Huvile Race Challenge Cup, Ben Royal, driven by Mr. Johnstone, shot out of the bunch as they entered the straight and maintained the load until the winning post vas passed. Border Raider carried off the mile and a quarter flat race from Mick, who challenged all the way.
The tabulated results appear as follows:- Throo-Quarter Mile Flat Race-For all China Ponios which have never won an official race and grilusat date of entry. Weight for inches as per scale.
