CHINESE CRUELTY.
On Tuesday the accountant of a Chinese shop, No. 140 Queen's Road Wost, was fined $202 for being in illicit possession of opium, and the following story was told Mr. F. A. Hazeland at the Palice Court yesterday as a sequel to the fine.
The accountant of the shop before montioned was in the habit of employing a servant boy from a neighbouring shop to go and procure opium for him. This the Excise officers found oat, with the result that the socountant was Arrested and fined a came to the conclusion that the boy, by name Mok Shui, was in the employ of the Excise Offcors, and had given the information against him, eo sent a faki on Tuesday night last wanted to Bos him. the youth walked
