was a fifteen rouni contest. King is the middlo weight champion of the West Kents, while Christio is well-known to the local sporting public, King stripped well, but appeared to be a little overtrained, and in ecusoquencs, not too active, Mr. J. Burke acted as referee.
In the first for rounds the combatants took the defensive, each man watching for an open- jug. Chiristie once hustled King to his kees, and got home some tolling right and left leads In the third round, while in the fourth honors were divided very wall. Both men went in for bard rushes and quick lead. King went to the bourda, hai came up on the third call, showing that he could take punishment. In the fifth and sixth rounds the boxers again fenced, bat the seventh found them dealing in solid body blows, Christio having the best of the exchanges. The eighth, ninth, and tenth rounds were uninteresting, except for a little active sparring. In the following. lends were freely given and returned. Christie lod the at- tack in the welfthand thirtesath rounds, and got home with some solidleft lewis on his opponent's jaw. The concluding rounds were more or leas of a waltz round the ring, but few passes bing exchanged. The referee (who deserves no credit for his night's work) awarded the victory to Christis on points
THE MASONIC QUADRILLE CLUB. Another of this Club's most enjoyable dances was held on the 3rd inst. in the Masonic Hall. The Company present included about fifty couples. Dancing continued antil the small hours of the morning, the Kowloon party having arranged for their conveyance to the other side The programme included Schottisches, Walses, Barn dances, Quadrilles, Lancers, and D'Alberts, and the excellent music and perfect condition of the floor tended to make the evening pass in the most pleasant maner possible. During the interval, light refreshments were served in one of the adjoining rooms. The parties con- cerned are to be congratulated upon the ex- collent way in which they carried out their onerous duties. We understand that the season will be brought to a conclusion nart month.
