The Hamburg-Amerika Linia of Hamburg hes opened a new regular passenger service with the three new passenger boats Rhenania, Rhaetia and Bugia, together with the two hosts line for some time. The now brats are specially Scandia and Slavonia, which have been on the built for the tropics, have very large, well-M. ventilated cabina, each provided with two beds, one sofa, one table, two wardrobes, two wash- stands, etc, etc. The berths are not arranged one above the other as has been the fashion hitherto, but the staterooms closely resemble ordinary sleeping rooms on here, the berths standing like baris at either side of the cabins The number of passengers is limited to 4) in the first class so as to avoid overcrowding The steerage is partienlarly high and spacious. The steamers are lighted throughout by electricity. The new ships are of about 9,500 tons gross register, being able to carry about 10,000 tons of general cargo, and have au average speed of about 13 knots.
