Peter Brookman was placed before Mr. F. A Hazeland at the Police Court yesterday, charged with behaving in a disorderly manner while drank, also with assaulting a policeman in the execution of his duty. It was brought under the notice of the Magistrate that this man's passage had been paid home, but that he would not leave the Colony as he stated he could get a better living here. DISASTROUS FIRE AT HOLLY. WOOD ROAD,
SEVERAL CHINESE BURNT TO DEATH. A serious fire occurred at No. 168, Hollywood Road, on Wednesday night last, wherein several Chinese were roasted alive. The fire broke out on the ground floor of the shop, and although the brigade were promptly notified and were quickly on the spot, by the time they strong hold and was arrived the fire had barding fiercely.
