The annual general meeting of the Hongkong Chess Club was held at the City Hall yesterday evening. Mr. H. E. Pollok, KC. (President of the Club) presided. There was a good attendance of members.

VICTORIA RECREATION CLUB.

THE PLANS OF NEW CLUB HOUSE, An extraordinary general meeting of mom- barn of the V.R.C was hold at the City Hall yesterday evening for the purpose of approving the plans and estimates for the construction of the proposed club house on the now.site, Murray Tier Extension, and to authorize the Committee to proceed with the erection of the sam, and to incur the necessary expenditure in connection therewith. Mr. A. Chapman (Chairman of the Clab) presided, and a large

number of members wore present.

The plans were as follows--Fucing the water on the western side the inshore end building shows five sall windows over five large ones; then an archway at some steps loading to the water, and four large doors opening on to the boat ramp from the boat- bonse. The Club Hange is immediately over the boat-hene, having six large windows facing the west. The boat room

itself is provided with arch-shaped windows, to ufford, no doubt, abund.nes or light. The · ervants" quarters are somewhere about the boat house, and, immediately abutting it on the in-hore side, is the gymnasium. The Club Room upstairs is divided into dressing room, club zovin, bar, office and store. The building is of red brick on a unite base, the roof boing tiled.

The plans under discussion did not show the covered-in bath house, which is to bo situated on the in-shore site of the gymnasium. The Club has not funds onongh to build thu covered-in baths at presout, but it is to be hop d this may be done on a future occasion.
