The reckless use which is made of the ancient Gobelins tapestries, which continue to be lent out right and left for all kinds of exhibitions, the furnishing of official residences, ministeries, fetes, &c., has been taken up by the French art world, and an appeal to the public has been made to support the offerte hoing made to stop such a national abuse. When the Tsar of Russia was last in France, sighty Gobelins tapestries were sent to devorate the Chateau de Compiegne, and soventy are retained. It is a great pity that Parisians know so little about the Manufacture Nationale des Gobelina, which includes tapest
