PORTING NOTES,

With its litary defeat from the United Services, the B.K.C.C. prastically ended its regular weason isat Saturday, though two mutches will figure on the programme-that v. the Eston Church Recreation Clab to-day and that v. in United League XV, on Saturday next. It locks extremely problematical whether there will be any game to-day. After yesterday's heavy rain no confidence can be felt in the wather being propitions, The Unton Church team includes some excellent ericketers, and it will be a pity if the match has to be abandoned, With regard to the following Saturday's contest, it was a wise decisión to make the League team a Afteen. In spite of all that can be said, the fulltrength of the H,K,C.C. is much too strong for any combined eleven of the Happy Valley Clubs, and if the senior club is not to play its best team a great deal of the interest of the game must evaporale. As it is, given a dry, or at lost playable, wicket, the match should be attractive.

The Ladies' Rifle Association Mesting, which concluded on Thursday, was very successful, but

This Association held its annual prize competition on Tuesday, the 15th, Wednesday, the 18th, and Thursday, the 17th inst., when some fair scores were made in spite of all the elements warring against such a result. The range is far from good at the best of thes, the targets being surrounded and overhung with foliage and large trees, making the Ight very trying: especially has this been so during the last few days.

The Royal Hongkong Golf Club decided on Tuesday last, the day of the Annual General Meeting, to increase the entrance fee to $30 and the subscription for all members joining after the 15th inst, to 315 per annum. There is the nuclene it a good course at Mirs Bay, but that is too far until we get a railway, and then I suppose the land will be too valuable.
