FOOTBALL SHIELD.
II. M.N.OLONY "THIS' LEVIATHAN,"
Hongkong, perhaps, has never seen a brighter game of football than the first contest towards the Chuilenge Shield; it took pines on the Club Groand, Happy Valley, on Saturday afternoon. Bright shine and a cloudless sky enlivened
the ruling ; and the verdure surround- ing the valley was picturesque beyoud tasera. Un the football field, the Glory team wore rod shirts, while in from the Leviathan wore blue; the Embination looked very jetty. The Chib paviline was baard on the right sido by a patch of red-coated voldars, and on the left by blue. jucke's. Opposite, on the other sido if the field, war a free group of man-of-war's men, who had their beads in, and were excited over the game. They elised their respective ship-tiles for overy good kick; they shouted instructions at them. When their own particular friends got the worst of it, they stamped their feet with vexation, aise making other visilde, if not audible, signs of annoyanes. A mixture of soldise and cailors, uguin, pretty well surround-
the field. Some ladies, and a large body of civilians were present; quite a fow Chinese yangstura also co jayed the fun. The ground was rather too perch and hard; this was all-- there was to complaių of.
