The object of this enterprise is the establish. ing of two factorios for the manufacture of Ice, one in longkong, and one in Canton.
The former city, ona of the largest shipping parts in the world, is supplied with ion by one plant, which supplies the inhabitants of Hong- kong, the coast ports, the shipping in the Harbour, and the cities of Kowloon and Canton as well.
Owing to the increasing demand for Ios our plant, which is of the most modern American Machinery, will manufacture ice fne more conomically than can be done by any plaat now in China or the East.
In Canton, which is the third largest city in the world, all the ion is purchased in Hongkong and delivered by River Stenmore daily, and solls from two to three conts per pound. In addition to the European population a largo number of the better class of Chinese will purchase ico; besides the immense number of Ocean Steamers which are constantly in this port would, we know, tax this plant to its utmost capacity.
