Wednesday, 19th June-We reached the top of the bill about 10 am. Had intended to stay up here a day or two, but the temple is quite unlivable being infested by a disgnating insect emitting a peculiarly horrid nad sickening smell, incomeh that one is turned against his food. The creature is of a shield shape, from oue-half to three-quarters of an inch long, end- grawis about like a beetle. I have so this creature in Kaling in ones and twos, but in this temple they are all over the place, piled thick on each other on the walls and window frames, thousands and myriads of them.
