Amphibolin, a natural earth existing near Baden, is recommended as more suitable than waterproof and non-inflammable. When once any other earth known for rendering textiles mixed with water and dried, it will not again mix with water. A mixture of 34 parts of amphibolin, 9 of size, 2 of chrome sluts; 2 of sul- phate of ammonia and 53 of water is advised for ordinary purposes, and this is claimed to have no tendency to crack, peel off, or fall ont s dust. One or several coats may be applied with a brush or otherwise, the fabric being exposed to light after sack coat.
