Sergeant Siza kaid that on Saturday th Int on account of information received, he marched the defendant's police regulation box in the Chinese quarters at No. 7. Police Station, and found a number of pawn-tickets, including one for the watch and chain. He arrested the de fendant.

The defendant, who stated that he bought the watch at a second-hand shop in Jervois Street, was sentenced to sue month hard labour
This caglable was further charged, on remand from Thursday, with stosling pair of silk leggings, value 82, the property of another Chiapas constable, on the 9th fast. He again pleaded not guilty.
An accountant in the Leong Yiok pa shop, 114, Wellington Street, was the rat wit- near called. He stated that on the morning of the 9th inst. the defendant pawned with him the pair of leggings produced.
The complateant said he lent the leggings to 0.C. 252, and next morning the latter told him they had been stolen.
O.C. 252 said he put the leggings in his box, the look of which was broken. He was conse quently unable to secure the box, and in the morning he found the leggings gone
The defendant was sent to prison for one month with hard labour, both watunons to be conenrrant.
STEALING FROM HIS MASTER. Li Yue, servant boy in the service of a Portu- gusse clerk, was charged with stealing one pair of boats, of the value of $4:50, the property of his muster, on the 18th inst. The defendant danied the charge.

The anti-gambling compaign by the police is still being zealously pursued, apparently, how evor, with but indifferent results, so far as the suppression of the vice is concerned. RETURNING FROM BANKHMENT. In connection with a robbery at Kowloon City early on the morning of the 13th inst, when four men, armed with eloppers, entered a dwelling-house and stole money and jewellery to the value of $53, Bergeant Cameron, while pursuing investigations, entered a house in the village of Lyesmun, and found there two men who had been banished from the colony. He arrost ed the man, and brought them over to Hong- kong."

ALLEGED ROWDYISM IN SALOONS, The attention of the police has of late been drawn to the fact that rowdyism to an excesive extent prevails nightly in certain asloons down West Point way, especially where there is a mixed gathering of soldiers sid aitors of all nationalities. Two proprietors of saloons yes- terday afternoon appeared before his Worship on charges of unlawfully failing to maintain order in their
promises on the 13th inst.

P. Brown said that at 11:30 pm, on the 13th inst. he was on duty in Queen's Roud Central. Three bluejackets from the Goliath appeared in court on rather serious charges--the first, of disorderly condnet and assaulting the palion; the second, of disordly conduct, saulding the police, and damaging a rickshs to the extent of $20; and the thinl, of damaging property in a call at the Central to the extent of $2.
The first man pleaded not guilty, but wan convicted on evidente and ined in all $5 or 14 days. The second defendant was found not guilty on the third charge-that of damaging a ricksha-but was convicted on the other two charges and fined $10. The third man ploaded gailty, and was tiued 87. "All the fines were paid.

A Rugby match was played at Happy Valley on Wednesday afternoon between the Hong- Yong Club and the Royal Artillery. The Club, who won the tem, was one man short, and Vor der Pfordten, who was originally included in the forwards, we placed in the throa-quarter line. The ground was hard and slippery, and this circumstance contributed in no slight measure to the tameness of play in the first half, which saw a goal registored by Capt Tullock for the Artillery, and s try for the Club, converted by Hallifax.
The second half was marked by brighter play, but that of the Artillery a superior, and gained for them two more goals and stry, The Club did not add anything to their score, and the game thas
