ROYAL HONGKONG YACHT CLUB.

Three of the colonies have agreed to this! arrangement, with the result that from the commencement of next year the cable charge from London te, places in those colonies will only be 3s. 6d. per word, as against the charge of about 3s. 11d. per word to Queensland, New South Wales, and Victoria. To obtain such a grent reduction at practically no cost is a great boon, and the New South Wales Government has stated that it is its intention to join the Brrangeinent with the Eastern Extension Com- pany, and Victoria may probably follow its ex- ample. On the most sanguine estimates, the Pain cable cannot be in working order for an- other two years, and the Governments of those two colonies do not wish to remain so long without A reduction in cable charges.
