The British steamer Telemachus, from Singa- pore 14th August, had strong S.W. monsoon as far as Purucel Island. Encountered heavy ty phoon on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday morning with a mountainens seu.
The British steamer Esang, from Moji 13th August and Swatow 22nd, had moderate variable winds and fine weather to Namki Island. From Namki Island to Swatow fresh N.E. winds and high B.E. swell with every indication of an approaching typhoon. From Swatow to port strong easterly winds and ligh sea from 8.S.W.. weather gloomy and threatening.
