So far as China and Japan are concerned the business has been fairly identical in extent, with that of last year, while the Australian position shows improvement in various directions. al. though the wool export has not recovered from the decline caused by several seasons of excessive drought. The company's freight returns show therefore on the whole an advance over those of last year, notwithstanding the fact their pure- ly commercial lines have been occasionally inter- rupted owing to the demands of the Transport Services There has not however, been eny interference with the regular work of the wail lines.
