Some alarm was caused during the week by a report tha: Germany was again going to buy gold, but although inquiries for gold on German account are undoret of to bave been caude there has been nothing to indicate as yet a demand of any Urgency, such as will, wasa, sones a withdrawal from the Bank it no supplies can be obtained in the open market. According to the German osinage programme for the current year, Ger- maay proposes to usin only £2,509,600 in gold during the current year, an amount which will bo easily supplied.
