I enclose a Copy of a Promissory Note for Thirty-five Pounds "£35.0.6" with interest payable to Mr. W. H. Leggett, who is Hong Kong's acting Chief Justice of H.M. Colonial Government.

I have taken the liberty to request your Lordship to interfere in my behalf, as Mr. Leggett has refused to accept the Bill because he is not aware that I am Secretary to the Chief Justice of this Colony.

I humbly beg your Lordship will interfere in my behalf, having officially addressed the amount to Mr. Leggett.

I wish your Lordship no other trouble.
