BARCLAY (Pa.), July 8th. This community is shocked and terribly excited over one of the most.fiend-like nud atrocious deces over perpetrated by a buman belog. The rolting tragedy took place Sutarday night, the 5th inst, between the hours of nine and ter colock, at the Fall Creck Coal Mines, Bradford County, Pa. The deerased, a child scarcely eight years of age, by the name of Bridget McCloskey, was abducted from the house of her parents, who were ualy temporafily absent as a neighbone's, a short distance away. On the reture of the parents, seardhi was inmediately instimied for the missing child. All Saturday night, San. day, and Sunday night, the deep forest surrounding the coal banks was explored by men, wol and children, but with

About two hundred miners formed themoves in line, Eve paces apart, and moved inrtherly coare. At nine o'clock they one fica the body of the slain chill, ly. ing in the shallow waters-of a small brook that conread its way through a deep mornas, not a quarter of a mile from the house where the abduction book place. It was at the ones dia. covered that the child bad been cruelly ravistod, strangled, and thrown into this swampy thisket. It may well be imagined that at-about this time the excitement had reached a high ebb. Ournes, long, bud and deep, went up araon iboko hegriosed, determined, underground toil ers. Veureanse, the most fearful, was threat ened the Fender, who was yet non est inventus. In the meastime suspicion was directed to a person by the name of Jones, sappared to
