Struck then joined the police force, and was sent to Manhattanville, where the prisoner encountered what she called her

The man after this declined to try and got any work, and would lie in bed for weeks together, dealin ing to see a dbetor, and saying that he was not ill. Finally ho appeared to go out of his mind, and at list, absing on the advice of a polie sergeant with whom the woman hid formet an aoquaintance, she resolved upon patting bin out of the way.". The culprit describes the marder of her husband, and then of her children, in the following terms:

"My husband at the time was getting worse and worse, and I was tempted to go and bay cracnic, I came home and made some oatmex! gruel, and put in it about balf a thimbleful of mirsenio, and stirred it in well. Then I gave it to my husband to drink, and he drank of it several times during the afternoon. He was then taken sick, with parging. I sent for Dr. Jackson, of Carmansville, and be care in the svening. He asked Mr. Struck how he relt, but he did not speak to him. The doctor stayed a short time and left with me two white powdere, and told me to give them to him during the night.
