The great exynion of steam cocsmani- cation both by sea and rivor, and the crea tional telegraphic connections, elace the existing Local Bank way founded, have grently added to the importance of Shang.. bai, until it has become the great depit or distributing point for the trade of North- emand Coatral China; but, while it opome desirable that Shanghai abould be the hend-quarters of the new Bank, and its direction on the spot whore the principal interante are involved, & local Committee will be formed in Hongkong for the pro motion of lie undertaking there.
The anccess of other public companies in Shanghai and Hongkong, and the evidenoc of a large sum of money aceting invest- ment in Okino, encourage the belief that the proposed Capital for this Busik will be readily subscribed; many inflictial native merchants have niready domo forord as activé promoters and supporters of the undertaking, and the Committee look for a very valuable constituency from Chinese sources.
The legal constitution of the Bank is engaging the consideration of the Com- mittee, and referendo, bes been made to London and elsewhere for the beat legil advice upou the subject; and it is under stood that no Sharon will be alloted, nor. will operations he commenced until the ne- cessary arrangements have been completed, when, further informations will be laid be.
